His mother, Dorothy, is a salon owner. Richard is his father. He is a car salesman. He has one brother, Richie Shelton, who was killed in an accident (automobile).
Shelton has a nice and unique voice. He always sang in his bedroom. At an early age he used to sing and play the acoustic guitar. Even, at 15, he wrote his own song. For that, he gained an award (Denbo Diamond) in home state. Her mother tried to enter him to a contest which was attended by a lot of girls.
