James Charles is a makeup artist, a model, and a social media personality. Born in 1999 (May 23), his place of birth is in New York, exactly in Bethlehem. Her father is Skip Dickinson and her mother is Christine. Ian Jeffrey is his younger brother.

In 2017, he graduated from Bethlehem Central School. When he was at high school, he got bullied a lot for his appearance. But he didn’t care and just igoned it.

Charles first came into beauty as a hairstylist. Soon, he was asked by his friend to do her makeup for an event. Then he started to try and try himself to do makeup and soon he began professionally to do make up.

When he was working as a hairstylist, he seemed to feel bored. Therefore, he started to put on makeup and share on social media platforms. In December 2015, he created a YouTube channel and shares makeup and beauty videos regularly. From that, he soon attracted attention and became known as a male doing makeup beauty.

Once, in September 2016, he shared pictures that he took of the ring light to his highschool prom and have popping highlights on the pictures. It made him famous instantaneously and his story became viral. Therefore a cosmetics brand directly chose him as the first male spokesmodel. He gained popularity on all social media. He has more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube, 10 million followers on Instagram, and more than 1 million followers on Twitter.

Charles had a chance to work with the brand ambassador of a very popular singer, Katy Perry. In November 2018, he launched the clothing line and makeup collection, The Sisters Apparel and The Sister Collection. He cooperated with the popular cosmetics brand, Morphe Cosmetics.

In January 2019, he visited the second store of Morphe Cosmetics. He put on Iggy Azalea’s makeup for her single, “Sally Walker” in March 2019. At the same year, he released an eyeshadow palette named the Artistry Palette.

In April until May 2020, he had an opportunity to direct, co-produced, and hosted the YouTube Originals competition Instant Influencer. It premiered on his YouTube channel which is supposed to find the best next beauty personality influencer. Whoever that won the competition will get a $50k cash prize.

He has collaborated with several artists to do make up videos on YouTube. They were Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kesha, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Madison Beer, Addison Rae, Jojo Siwa, Trixie Mattel, Charli D’Amelio, Plastique Tiara, Bretman Rock, and Avani Gregg.
